R.v.R. passe un cap avec The Blade Which Cuts The Roots Has Two Sides et devient cette lame à double tranchants. Le désespoir silencieux du dernier album est désormais révolu. La musicalité est une constante, et il suffira des pistes comme l'obsédant "Flourishing Amongst The Cold Winds and Frost" pour s'en apercevoir (ces alternances entre gradation et de calme, comme un cauchemar éveillé...). L'autre tranchant arrive avec le chant de R.v.R., beaucoup plus présent qu'autrefois, incarné, à vif.
